Aftermath of Disaster: Book 1 – It Has Begun is ready for download in audio book format.
I’ve learned audio is a long process. Finding and approving a narrator took about a week. It was another 5 days to get recorded and then a full two-weeks to get approved by ACX and Audible.
It’s available on amazon.com, iTunes, and audible.com. (I have started the process for Book 2: Diggin In and found a new narrator. It should be available around the end of August.)
If you’ve never tried audio books and would like to give it a shot, click the link above (or the photo) and it will take you to my book on Audible. That link will give you the audio book for free if you sign up for a free trial account with Audible. It’s a great deal!

Why audio books?
They’re convenient
You can listen to an audio book on your Kindle, phone, computer, or tablet. If you’ve got an mp3 player, you can listen on those as well. You can listen while you’re driving, cooking, doing laundry, or any other chore – as long as it’s not too noisy. Doing the dishes may be a stretch!
Is it dark?
No worries! You don’t need to see, only hear. I worked a night shift for years and rode the bus to and from work. In the winter, it was dark both ways and I couldn’t read my books on the 1 hour (express!) bus ride. Audio books weren’t an option back then, so my only option was to sleep.
Great for young children
If you’ve got young kids, audio books are a great way to introduce them to stories they can’t read on their own. It’s great for non-fiction as well. They can learn more at a younger age!
Is the narrator too slow?
If you think the pace is too slow or if you’re in a hurry, you can speed up the narration. You can go from 1.25x all the way to 3x. If you’ve done this with YouTube videos, it’s the same thing here. I have a favorite YouTube channel but the guy talks too slow. I speed him up to 1.5x and it’s perfect. It works the same when you’re in a hurry, it just sounds funny. Like chipmunks.
Have a Kindle?
If you’re listening on Kindle, you can switch between the audio book and eBook seamlessly. Just tap the button and it’s a done deal. It also works in the Audible app. So if you’re at the park and reading, you can switch to audio when you have to leave. Perfect for those books you just can’t put down.
Too many screens
Finally, in today’s world we’re always attached to a screen. Work, home, school, on the bus…everywhere we go there’s a screen in front of us. With an audio book, you can leave the screen behind and relax. Take a walk, play with your children or dogs and cats. The point being, you can give your eyes a break from the screen. You can do anything while listening to an audio book. Just be careful of traffic.
All in all, audio books are a great way to enjoy your favorite books. Click here to get Aftermath of Disaster today!
