Aftermath of Disaster Book 3 Cover Reveal

October 29, 2018 by Kevin Maguire

Olivia – my awesome cover designer – just delivered the new cover. Miles – the awesome editor – says he should be done by the weekend. So I think this book should be ready by the second week of November 2018.

It’s been two months since the end of the last book. Jack, Diane, Robin, and a host of others are on a rescue mission. Meanwhile, the terrorists have other plans.

The audio book will be available about a month later. Unfortunately, that is a slow process.

Summer’s End is available now!

Survival is for the Prepared Shirt

August 18, 2018 by Kevin Maguire

Hey, I just made a T-Shirt and a composition notebook that says “Survival is for the Prepared.” The tee shirt comes in several colors and comes in sizes for men, women, and children. I wanted to have pink for a shirt color, but it didn’t look good. I think it looks best on black, but the other choices are good too.

The notebook has a black cover and is just in time for back to school. Of course, they’re not just for students. I keep one on my desk at all times and it’s full of notes and things I don’t want stored on my computer – like passwords and other login information. If you like to keep a journal or diary, this will work well for that as well. It’s 110 pages of college ruled paper and measures 6×9 inches.

The product descriptions on Amazon say everything you need to know about the t-shirt and notebook. Amazon prints the shirts.

You can find the Survival is for the Prepared T-Shirt here and
the notebook here.

Thanks for looking.

Book 2 Cover Reveal

July 15, 2018 by Kevin Maguire

Aftermath of Disaster: Book 2 Diggin In is almost ready for release. It’s still with the editor but I should have it back very soon. I’ll finalize the suggested edits and release it.

For now, here is the cover!

Aftermath of Disaster: Book 2 - Diggin In
Aftermath of Disaster: Book 2 – Diggin In

Book 2 is twice the size of Book 1. I did read the reviews and even though I intended the books to be short, I doubled the size.

Fun fact: I titled this one “Digging In” but the cover designer forgot a “G” and I decided to keep it.

More info coming soon!

Prepper Journal & Inventory Log Book

July 10, 2018 by Kevin Maguire

Have you ever had your home burglarized and lost everything? I have and I can tell you it sucks something fierce. Everything I ever worked for was gone. What the thieves didn’t want, they broke. I didn’t’ have a physical copy of my inventory for insurance purposes.

I had a big, heavy TV that was too big to carry away. They threw a hammer through the screen. When I say I lost everything, I mean it. It has lasting effects too. It’s been about 4 years and I still freak out if I don’t remember locking my door. My house was locked up tight, but that doesn’t matter. I’ll still walk back to my apartment, up four flights of stairs, to check my door.

Keeping inventory is great for insurance purposes. I didn’t have a physical book, I kept everything on my computer, laptop, iPad, and external hard drive. The latter two were hidden well, I thought. Nope. So I had no copies of my items. I had to find email receipts, call companies and have them mail me receipts, and go to a lot of stores to get what I needed for the insurance.  It didn’t add up to much. For all my losses, I got about $15,000. Replacing my camera and lenses took half of it. I couldn’t afford to replace both my desktop and laptop, so I got a really good laptop. I’m typing on it right now – about 5 years later.

The worst of it though, was losing my daughter’s baby pictures. I know it’s been 5 years because my daughter was just a few months old when this happened. The only baby photos we have of here are the ones uploaded to Facebook.

If I had a physical copy of everything I would have got a lot more from the insurance company. But there was too much I couldn’t prove. So with this journal I’ve included inventory pages with a space for photos. Photos are great for showing the condition of items. The insurance companies will not pay full price unless you can prove there’s no wear and tear. That’s a problem I had with my camera and lenses. They were all in prime condition. I was a Navy photographer, I take excellent care of my equipment. They were locked up in a safe, by the way.

I was reading a post in a Facebook group a few days ago. A guy lost everything in a fire, it was pretty sad. He said he’d prepared for everything, except a fire. You’ll want your inventory log kept in a fire proof safe with all your other important documents.

Here is what I’ve included in this journal and inventory log book:

  • There are lined pages for writing whatever is on your mind at the moment. Each of those pages has a box for doodles or notes.
  • There are inventory pages to keep track of what you have and a place for a photo of the item(s.) This is a great place to put receipts (or copies of receipts) as well.
  • It has a page for your rotation schedule. When do you rotate your water? What about your food bars and MRE’s? Write it down and know, all in one place for convenience.
  • There are “To Do” list pages so you can always stay on track.
  • The “Weekly Plan” pages also help you stay on track of your life and your prepping goals. If you’re not a big writer or you’re a new prepper, no worries. The weekly plan can easily be a monthly or bi-monthly plan. It’s your journal, set your own pace.

The journal also lets you keep track of what you have, what you want, and what you need. A written plan is a solid plan.

Not having my stuff written down cost me thousands of dollars. The insurance companies are not going to help you and will do everything they can to pay you as little as possible. Don’t let that happen. Whether you buy this journal and inventory log or not, keep a log. Don’t add insult to injury.

Aftermath of Disaster

April 8, 2018 by Kevin Maguire

I wrote my first book, Aftermath of Disaster: Book 1 – It Has Begun, for Amazon Short Reads. It’s a Kindle Short Read, I want to make that clear – it’s about 8500 words. Here’s the book description:

Aftermath of Disaster: Book 1 - It Has Begun

Could you survive?

Jack and Diane were two average Americans living in small towns, or so it seems.  Jack is a prepper and has been most of his life. The day started out like any other; Diane and Jack began their morning routines and equipped their every day carry items. Survival is for the prepared.

But when disaster strikes the United States, Jack’s lifetime of preparing will be put to the test. Grabbing his two dogs and their bugout bags, the duo must escape their hometowns and find a safe place to seek shelter. What really happened and will Jack’s years of prepping be enough to keep them all safe?

Click the link and hit that “Buy Now” to follow the action in ‘It Has Begun.’

Every author appreciates an honest review on Amazon. A new author depends on it. After you’ve read it, I’d appreciate your honest opinion of my book.

Aftermath of Disaster is now a #1 Best Seller! It’s reached #1 in two categories, beating John Grisham in both. It’s also #4 and 6 in other categories. Thanks to everyone who purchased a copy! I never imagined this!
